I took this picture in 2017, a year after giving birth to my beautiful daughter @IAmTaylorShalom
I was still breastfeeding and emotions were all over the place! Despite harsh criticism for breastfeeding after the age of 1, I continued to breastfeed until she was 3! (That’s this year!) My breastfeeding journey lasted longer than most new mothers, not so much because I wanted to, but because she was very attached, as I was to her, and still am. Throughout my pregnancy, again, unlike most women, I lost weight, due to being extremely unhappy and depressed. But I quickly bounced back, with the help of God, my dear mother, family, friends and wonderful Sorority Sisters 💕💚. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorported came for me at a time when I was at a low. Being around such graceful and positive women pushed me back on track and propelled me forward!
At the time I was a Manager in Make-Up and Fashion, so I would dress up, to keep myself “up-beat” and happy. Give me some #You
Contour and #NudeLips
and I was good! ✨But you can’t hide pain with make-up!✨ If I can be honest, just walking through the mall at times would make me happy. However, after transitioning to the #Financial
Industry, I’ve learned to stay away from the malls much more and manage my finances better. I am still not where I want to be, but with faith in God, a great support system and higher learning, I am on my way! I don’t know about you, but I speak things into existence. I am created in the Image and Likeness of the Creator so here goes:
I am a future author, speaker and music mogul in the making!
I guess what I’m saying is, no matter how a woman looks on the outside, she could be going through things she never shares. So check on your sister, not just right after giving birth, but a year or two later. Even those pretty, empowered ones without kids, who seem to have it all together! Check on ‘em! 💕💕💕 #WomenEmpowerment #PositiveAffirmations #Motivation #SelfCare #BlackMomsKillingIt #BlackMomsBlog #Melanin
