"I've been spending my time
In the old town
I sure miss you honey."
_The Corrs (Old Town)_
Once an international commercial port in Vietnam, Hoi An has become a melting pot for several different culture which is manifested in its architectural style: a unique fusion between east (Chinese & Japanese) and west (European).
Hoi An (会安) translates as "peaceful meeting place". This word is derived from Vietnamese Hoi An pho (the town of Hoi An), which was shortened to "Hoi-pho", and then to "Faifo".
Most parts of Hoi An Old Town are well preserved and that is how Hoi An got its status as one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
Heritage conservation done right over here.
