✨✨ SACRED ✨✨ ✨
Devoted to one purpose, use, service, or person; entitled to reverence and respect— reverence: honor or respect shown or felt, especially profound adoring awed respect. ✨
What is sacred to you, especially in your life as a stepmom? It might be a place, a way you spend certain time, an item you treat yourself to. But, what is it? Is it dedicated time at the gym on certain days? Is it your favorite dessert or snack that you hide from your family and consume in peace? Is it date night with your spouse or girls brunch on the weekend? Is it your garden? What is sacred to you— just yours, something in this chaotic stepfamily life that brings you comfort, joy, recharge?
My bed is sacred to me. It’s that simple— my bed. My bed, with my pillows, sheets, blankets, and my comforter.
My bed, and my bedroom in general, is off-limits to our kids in the most loving and friendly way possible. Our kids are very physically affectionate and love to cuddle, give and receive hugs, sit closely to us or on our laps, etc. We give them all of the affection that they could possible stand— just not in our bedroom or on our bed. They aren’t allowed to climb onto our bed, or lay with us in bed. We sometimes lay with them in their beds, but never ours.
My bedroom and my bed are a place for my husband and I to connect physically, rest our bodies, calm our minds, and I take that very seriously. No kids, ever, no matter what. This might seem crazy to others but it is the way of our home and everybody is content with that!
What is sacred to you? 🖤
