If you’re a Christian, I want you to do something: Go back.
Can you remember the day the Jesus saved your soul? When he carried you out of your grave & gave new life? The day he covered you in grace & called you his own?
Do you remember the fears, doubts, questions, hardships & shame your were facing at the time?
Do remember what Jesus did for you? Maybe that day brought you a lot of peace. Maybe that day brought you purpose. Maybe that day brought you joy. Maybe that day brought you forgiveness & freedom. Maybe that day brought you all of the above. I don’t know what God did in your heart that day, but he gave you hope, I know that much.
There are a lot of days we don’t feel hopeful though. There are a lot days when the struggles get to us & the lies overwhelm us & we lose hope.
God is still the same God he was on the day he saved you & called you home.
He still offers the same peace & joy & purpose & love he gave you that day.
God still cares about you & wants you & is working in you as powerfully & as intentionally he was on that day.
So today you may be facing fears, hardships & shame. But God is still offering hope, he will never stop offering you hope, & maybe if you go back & remember the hope you once had, that’ll give you hope for today :)
His truth & the hope he gives you can become really mundane & familiar, & his personal work in your heart is a good reminder, but I also wanna say this:
You were created to have a relationship with Jesus. You were created with purpose. You’ve messed up & that may make you feel far from God, but he died to forgive you, give you grace & show you how much he fully loves you. When you believe in him & except him as your savior & king, there’s nothing that can separate you from him. You will always be fully loved, fully known, & fully forgiven. You will always have a good father, wise king, sovereign God & loving friend. & when you die you’ll get to go to heaven & be forever in his presence & in the presence of his children, your family.
So wherever you are in life, I wanted to remind you of the Good News & the hope we have Jesus, just in case you forgot or haven’t heard it yet :)
