To say that I "can't put into words" how much I love @roamrydes
and everything that is @thisisroam would be a lie. There are words - and I am not ashamed to admit it.
These two women have given me so much opportunity, faith, support, love, trust, encouragement, and mentorship over the past three years that I can barely ever begin to repay them. They've given me so much freedom to come and be a part of their events, with little to keep me in check, it's insane. They have inspired me, lifted me up, filled my head with wonder and possibilities. It's not a scenario of "if they can do it, so can I,"... No. They've done something no one else has ever done. And now, I want to pay it forward and be like them. I want to continue being part of what they do. They set an example, and I hope I can continue learning what is important and where I can be a strong and positive influence on the world and people around me.
This thing, COVID-19, it's nothing. It's a challenge. Yes. It's threatening lives. Yes. It's wrecking the economy. Yes. But is it a world war? No. Is it a nuclear bomb? No. We can recover from it. We CAN pull our bootstraps up. We CAN make work for ourselves. We CAN push forward with as much strength and fortitude as any generation and define our lives with the greatness of our grandparents and parents. No generation is a waste. No person is disposable. We all deserve a chance and access to the beauty that is our world.
Now pick yourself up, like Samwise picked up Frodo (#nerd
, I know) and #stayhome
, be #kind
and God damn come up with a plan for how you're going to emerge from quarantine better than how you entered it. I know I'm going to put in the work. I'll also see you all out on the trails. And ladies, you'd better be at #roamfest
