It's important to learn about the people and events that shaped our world today, especially the ones we aren't taught at school!
Here's the story of stonewall - a pride month storybook by @illumibee
some context: one of the options I was given for my US history final was to write a children's storybook about an important event in American history, and this was one of the suggested topics! I knew little to nothing about Stonewall before doing this project, and i think it's important that people recognize WHY, exactly, it was so important! There's so much more to it than I could cover, especially a lot of the darker details (children's book), but I hope it gives some of you guys a better idea of the importance of this uprising!! fun fact: the illustrations took about 7 hours compressed.
edit :during my research, the labeling of Rivera and Johnson changed constantly from drag queen to transgender- I tried my best to use the sources I thought were the most trustworthy, but I've realized with the comments that I may have mislabeled them!! I'm really sorry!! edit 2:I turned off the comments due to negative discourse,, I didn't want this to spark controversy or start an argument on whether or not pride month deserves to exist,, I was just trying to tell a story. Please take your discourse elsewhere,, it's draining me out
edit 3: hype has died so I'm putting them back up
