2 years ago I walked into my local laundromat high as a kite. The man working threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave. I walked home and looked at myself in the mirror. I was unrecognizable. The next morning I walked into a room of strangers and said hi my name is Ravi and I’m a drug addict. I couldn’t make eye contact. I felt invisible. But what I’m here to say is that recovery is possible. A new life is possible. 1 day at a time I have learned to love myself. I have learned to walk with my head held up and live with integrity.
They say that in the first 90 days you feel so happy it is as if you see a pink cloud, but I challenge that. Every day can not only see a pink cloud, but a cloud of rainbows and unicorns (and goats.) The world is my oyster if I don’t pick up.
I got a new apartment, was cast in a world premier musical, traveled across 5 continents, developed and pitched a new travel series, had goats literally move into my backyard in riverside park, and found the joy in the little things of life. I learned the word #Gratitude
To anyone struggling with addiction know that you are not alone, there is so much help out there, and it takes 30 days to form a habit. The world is better with you in it❤️Reach out!
To everyone who stood by me- thank you from the bottom of my heart. Shout out to the most magical city in the world-NYC-where recovery programs are everywhere. Thank you for saving my life. Now let’s go out and kick some ass SLAYING our dreams 1 day at a time. Off to seal some deals at the NY TIMES TRAVEL SHOW🙌❤️🌏
