3 years ago, while I was still living in Frankfurt I had some skin problems. Nothing major, but my skin really took a turn for the worse from what it used to be.
So, I did what people usually do when you encounter skin problems. I went to a dermatologist office. A private one. Little did I know that those people, in most cases, hate to say it - are in business of ripping you of without treating the root cause.
The first question the dermatologist asked me was: "Are you on the pill?" and my answer was: "I was, but I have stopped taking it a few months ago." She should have KNOWN what was going on - I had a hormonal reaction caused by stopping taking the pill and my skin reacted on that process - she still chose to mislead me for months and, needles to say, make me leave big amounts of money at her clinic. Without solving a n y t h i n g.
One of her brilliant conclusions was (after I described her my daily food intake) that I eat too much sugar and that it has to be it. Just as a reference - today I eat at least double of the amount of sugar I ate back then. My skin looks great.
Following her conclusion, she has put me on a "40 days no sugar diet" meaning almost no fruit at all - blueberries being allowed as the only fruit - and no honey either.
Well, me being a women, and pretty desperate at that point, I listened and followed through.
While my skin condition didn't improve at all by that experiment, the body cleanse of sugar, I have to admit, it felt great. I remember the 41st day was my niece's 1st Birthday party and I couldn't eat more than one bite of the cake as It was waaaayyy too sweet!
I had a few attempts since than to try to do a 30 days sugar cleanse (with honey and fruit allowed though) just none of the refined sugar. This also means extra attention on reading labels❗although I carefully read them anyhow.
So, today is my 1st day of a 30 days sugar cleanse. Who's with me?! Come on, join me, you'll love the feeling! (only the first 2 weeks are tough 😜)
