Top of my list is taking one of your improv dance classes… and learning how to skate, so I can roll around town with you!
Is it too late for me? When did you start skating?
Started skating last fall. I’ve found a strong community of female/queer skaters in the Boston area and it’s been cool to build new friendships within that space. It’s not too late! Just harder to recover as you get older, but I still love it.
Maybe I’ll start with improv dance first…is there something in that space that you can teach me on the spot?
Close your eyes, let go of any notion that the way you move could be wrong. Nothing is right or wrong in this space.
You’ve danced for 15 years?
Yes! Started dancing around the time I could walk. It’s meant the world to me. It’s a great tool to get out of your head and into your body, and helps me to explore my own emotions.
How’s work been?
Working on 2021 NB apparel development right now, always fun to kick off new products.
What did you study/do to get you here?
Went to school for Fashion Communications and Promotion, had an internship in Technical Design my senior year and was hooked. It totally changed my path. I liked working with patterns -- it felt like every day was its own challenge.
Tried and true pair of shoes?
Numeric 212’s! My forever fav sneaker, @nbnumeric
more colorways please!
Favorite website/video at the moment?
Rewatched “I like it here inside my mind. Don’t wake me this time” a skate video by @polarskateco
We’ve talked a bit about fears, anything you’re trying to tackle this year?
This might not be a fear exactly, but I’m working on being more present. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught in the past or worry about the future instead of being here, now. Maybe it’s a fear of being in the present!
