My Episode 2 Chocolate Challenges
Challenge 1 - to create 20 chocolate bonbons based on a classic dessert. My oldest son Hugo absolutely adores Banoffee Pie so I just had to recreate that in chocolate form. I used a silicon mould (which the size was within the brief measurements!!!!) that replicated the look of the pie. I filled each one with a banana caramel. Then topped each one with a ChoCarina banana chip made out of white and milk chocolate. I intended to use white chocolate ganache to pipe little bits of “cream” around the edge as you can see on a couple of them in the photo. However it transpired (according to Si) that I was given single cream and not double cream which I requested, so the ganache was too watery so I refrained from using it on all of the bonbons.
Challenge 2 - to create 12 bonbons of three different flavours (36 in total) so that there would be something for everyone. I chose milk chocolate banana caramel (the element you had to carry over from Challenge 1) for the happy/sweet mood, white chocolate almond truffle for when you are feeling nutty/crazy and then a dark chocolate sour cherry ganache for when you are feeling sour/grumpy.
The name of my tin was “What’s your mood?” However this was disliked by the brand judge and ultimately Ruth who kicked me out of the show.
Yes my time was short but it was the right time for me to go. A part from missing my kids like crazy, I feel my choice of fillings/creativity were just too simple.
Although I loved my idea for episode 3... so from next week I will upload what I would have created if I was still on the show for you all to see what I would have done! And you can be the judge this time 😝 #hairybikerschocchallenge
