BLT’s...bites, licks and tastes can make or break you regarding reaching your goals!
Oh those pesky bites, licks, and tastes.
They seem so innocent.
How could licking that extra peanut butter off the spoon, finishing the leftovers off your kid’s plate, or having multiple tastes of your meal while you’re in the process of making it possibly stall your progress?
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it absolutely can.
Because all of those things, no matter how small, still have calories. And if you’re sneaking in a little here and a little there throughout the day, it can account for hundreds of extra calories.
Enough to knock you right out of a deficit.
This brings to mind a recent conversation I had with a client. She had been making incredible progress for quite some time and was down a total of 10 pounds.
Then suddenly her progress started to stall. Totally normal. It’s bound to happen at some point.
But as I went in to look at her nutrition adherence, I noticed that on most days she was eating below her prescribed macros.
Hmmm, something wasn’t quite adding up. Which led me to ask that oh-so important question no one likes to answer.
“Are you sure you’re tracking everything you’re eating? Is anything in your day going unaccounted for?”
Sure enough, there was. As a busy business owner, she admitted to there being times when she’d eat a little bit throughout the day and forget to track it. Bingo!
And that’s what makes this habit such a culprit of not being in a deficit.
When you’re bulldozing your way through the day and have so many other important things on your mind, what makes you think you will remember taking that bite of donut from the office break room at 10 a.m.?
If you feel like you’re doing everything right but still not seeing results, it’s time to get honest about those BLT’s.
